Industry Organization Description

INCOMPAS
the internet and competitive networks association (formerly COMPTEL), is the leading trade association advocating for competition policy across all networks. INCOMPAS represents internet, streaming, communications and technology companies both large and small, advocating for laws and policies that promote competition, innovation and economic development.

Our members are catalysts for creating economic growth and improving the quality of life of all Americans through technological innovation, new services, and greater choice for consumers and businesses. These entrepreneurial companies offer a wide array of broadband voice, video, Internet, and data offerings, using both wireline (copper/fiber) and wireless networks to reach their customers. Among the state-of-the-art solutions they deliver are managed services, cloud computing, data storage, over the top (OTT), content and streaming, and unique applications that are developed and deployed via broadband networks.

We advance our members’ interests through twice-annual trade shows; networking opportunities; education; and policy advocacy before Congress, the Federal Communications Commission and the courts. Our core mission is designed to ensure that competitive communications and technology providers can continue to develop and deliver better service and greater innovation to consumers and businesses.

Advocacy

Advocates for Competition Since its inception in 1981, INCOMPAS has been a fierce advocate for a competitive communications marketplace, asserting that consumers will be better off and more investment and innovation will result with pro-competitive policies in the U.S. Over the last three decades, lawmakers and policymakers – on a bipartisan basis – have embraced policies to promote competition in the communications marketplace. As new technologies and services emerge, policymakers must remain vigilant that competitive choice continues to thrive and that the communications markets function in a way most beneficial to residential and business consumers.

Our members – competitive communications and broadband companies that deliver voice telephony, broadband, mobile and fixed wireless, wholesale, backhaul, video, cloud services and other applications, as well as their suppliers and professional partners – are driving our nation’s economic growth by investing in and building new networks and technology, offering innovative services to businesses and consumers, and creating good jobs in the United States. World-class communications networks and services are best achieved through a vibrant, competitive marketplace. Both businesses and residential consumers benefit the most when they have the freedom to choose the provider that best meets their needs at the lowest cost.
